Royal consumer products has announced a USB 2.0 Flash/Jump drive with a scrollable window display enabling consumers to view stored file names without a computer connection. The drive has 4 buttons which display the file name, extension, date created and so on. Royal has also introduced a SD Card Reader / Writer with a similar display. Additionally, every Royal EZVue Vista Drive with internal flash memory will include pre-loaded Allway Sync Pro file and folder synchronization software. Allway Sync Pro allows consumers to easily copy files to Royal Vista Drives or to select one-touch or automatic synchronization between folders and files stored on an EZVue Vista Drive and the consumer’s PC.

The Royal EZVue Vista Drive will be available in of 256MB (US$50), 512MB (US$80) and 1GB (US$100) memory sizes. The SD card reader with display will sell for $ 30.

From Gizmodo.com
We saw the original Royal EZVue Vista flash drive earlier this year, but now Royal has taken another step by adding a SD card reader to their design. If you recall, the EZVue features a small 2-line LCD screen that scrolls the contents of the USB flash drive. The same concept applies except with SD memory cards. This SD peripheral is capable of both, reading and writing to the memory cards.

From FreshDevices.net

Not sure wether your files are stored in your flash disk & have no time to check to your pc ? Royal Consumer Products gives you the solution.

They release Royal EZVue Vista Drive a flash disk with 2 lines screen which can shows the filenames stored without the need of a computer connection.
It has 4 keys to scroll displayed file names. Scroll it to right will reveal longer file names with file extensions, file size, created date. It also has a jump key to jump between directories & subdirectories.

The Royal EZVue Vista Jump/Flash Drives are compatible with Windows and Macintosh and USB 1.1 and 2.0 compatible. It bundled with Allway Sync Pro PC software, a Windows based software to sync between PC & Royal EZVue Vista Jump/Flash Drives.

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price:

Royal EZVue Vista SD Card Reader/Writer: $29.99

Royal EZVue 256MB Vista Drive: $49.99

Royal EZVue 512MB Vista Drive: $79.99.

Royal EZVue 1GB Vista Drive $99.99

Mobile Phone Jammer, CJAM 1000

From FreshDevices.net :

JAM 1000 is a portable cellular jamming device to stop cell phones, wi-fi, pager or any other microwave frequency for up to 1 km radius. The result, the macbook pro scored 8. From the article: "Some of these results are surprising, and some are not. For one, the Aluminum PowerBook G4 mysteriously scored higher on the User Interface test than both of the other machines. Both the AlBook and the Dell scored higher on the disc test, which makes sense in the case of the AlBook, since it has a 7200rpm drive. The CPU test results were rather close for all three with some minor differences, and of course the MacBook Pro spanked the AlBook on the Thread test (while beating the Dell by a smaller margin). On the memory test, the MacBook Pro's RAM was significantly faster than the PowerBook G4. Then wait for the next six months. Microsoft will introduce a search engine better than Google in six months in the United States and Britain followed by Europe, its European president said on Wednesday.
"What we're saying is that in six months' time we'll be more relevant in the U.S. market place than Google," said Neil Holloway, Microsoft president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

"The quality of our search and the relevance of our search from a solution perspective to the consumer will be more relevant," he told the Reuters Global Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit.

"Should we add a Google-like search engine but twice as good hard-core into Windows? Guess what. If we did that, I don't think a company called Google would be very happy," he said.

But being good is not enough to win the hearts and minds of consumers already dedicated to another standard.
Original article from Reuters

Technorati Tags: Google, Microsoft

Lined up for Nintendo DS Lite

Some peolple lined up on the front of stores at 8 PM waiting for the opening at the morning in Japan to be the first person to buy Nintendo DS Lite.

Technorati Tags: Nintendo, DS, Lite

Source [Famitsu] via [Engadget], translated with [Babelfish]

Google News on Your Mobile Devices

Have nothing to read when you're in a waiting room and want to know what just happen in this planet ? The mobile phone maker also launched an attempt to push that other borrowing from its parent company - the Walkman brand - further down-market with the first ever clamshell version.

The K800 and K790 - respectively 3G and tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE version of the same Cyber-shot phone - both sport a 3.2 megapixel camera behind a drop-down cover. Both have auto-focus with illumination, on-board red-eye reduction, integrated xenon flash and image stabilisation feature.

Sony Ericsson touted the cameras' BestPic feature, which captures nine shots in sequence starting as soon as you press the shutter button to trigger the auto-focus. The camera then shoots continuously, retaining the four shots taken before your press the shutter button and then taking a further four afterward. You're then given the chance to keep the pic you took, or select any or all of the others, all of which are taken at the full 3.2 megapixels - so BestPic isn't just another name for 'burst mode', Sony Ericsson insisted.

The 115g camera phone ships with 64MB of on-board memory, and takes MemoryStick Micro add-in cards. Images are displayed on the cameras' 2in, 320 x 240, 262,144-colour LCD. There's built-in support for Google's Blogger service, allowing pics to be uploaded and posted on the web in a trice. Well, as fast as the host network connection will allow - there's no Wi-Fi on these handsets.

There is Bluetooth 2.0 and, for straight-to-printer connections, PictBridge. Sony Ericsson claimed the phones offer seven hours' talk time on GSM networks, dropping to 2.5 hours on 3G connections. The stand-by time is 350 hours, the company claimed.

The K800 and K790 will go on sale next quarter with variants for North and South America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and China. Sony Ericsson did not provide pricing guidance, which is too dependent on operator subsidies and tariffs.

The Walkman W310 is a low-end clamshell music phone aimed at the 'yoof' market. It's got Bluetooth 2.0, an FM radio, a 262,144-colour main display and a quad-band radio with EDGE support. Sony Ericsson said it will bundle a 256MB MemoryStick Micro card with the product to complement the 20MB of on-board memory.

The integrated camera is a disappointing sub-megapixel job with 4x digital zoom. However, Sony Ericsson claimed the phone offers a whopping 9.5 hours' talk time - on stand-by the battery lasts for 400 hours.

The W310 also ships around the world in Q2. ®

Original articles at Reghardware

Technorati Tags: Sony Ericsson, Cybershot, Camera Phone

Reason to buy Windows Vista

Jason Cross running an article at Extremetech.com about Why Windows Vista Won't Suck . This is a dramatic, whole-hog upgrade of the Windows platform. If you got anything out of this article, we hope it's the realization that Vista is not simply the Windows XP/2000 code base that has been slowly evolving over the years with some fancy graphics and icons slapped onto it. It should be clear that Vista is really the next generation of operating system from Microsoft, every bit as significant as the leap from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 or the jump from Mac OS 9 to OS X.

Technorati Tags: Microsoft, Windows, Vista, Aero Glass

Apple's New Products

Among other products, Apple introducing their new Intel Mac Minis to replace the Apple G4. A second worm, dubbed InqTana, and its two variants are actually proof-of-concept programs that were not discovered on the Internet but were instead sent to antivirus vendors and Apple by a researcher to prove that worms can spread through Bluetooth. And while the release of code for a vulnerability that could be exploited through Safari and Mail is a bit more serious, no incidents of Web sites exploiting the flaw have yet been reported.

Full artivle at Securityfocus.com Page 1, Page 2

Technorati Tags: apple, mac, osx, worm

tiny minipc from aopen

Original article @ dailytech.com

PCs recently have taken on a new look when it comes to small form factors giving compliment to Apple

As the PC market continues to show its age, many manufacturers are changing focus and research to reflect niche markets – with or without the help of the channel partners. AOpen received much fanfare for the original MiniPC; a small desktop PC running on Intel’s Dothan and Yonah CPUs. The MiniPC is strikingly reminiscent of the Apple Mac Mini, but in reality the two are quite the opposite.

At Cebit 2006, AOpen will announce the next generation MiniPC. DailyTech was able to get an exclusive look at the unannounced unit inside AOpen’s Research and Development offices.

The next MiniPC has an even smaller form factor than the original MiniPC. A proprietary motherboard design houses a Pentium M socket, Intel 945GT core logic, DDR2-SODIMM memory banks and mini-PCI expansion slot. The majority of these MiniPCs sold in the US will ship as barebones systems, but there are plans to build fully furnished systems in Taiwan for a little under $1000 USD.

Like the original MiniPC, our evaluation unit will feature infrared sensors for remote control functions (an MCE certified remote ships with every unit), Gigabit Ethernet, DVI, Firewire and USB 2.0. The PCI expansion bus will support a Wi-Fi adaptor or a combination Wi-Fi adaptor with Bluetooth support. A SATA riser allows the 2.5” hard drive and slot-loading DVD player to easily detach and reattach to the motherboard. While the feature set of the MiniPC is quite tame for Intel 945G motherboards, the fact that the entire unit consumes a 6” by 6” footprint and weighs less than five pounds speaks volumes for AOpen’s design team. Expect to see more news of the MiniPC within the next few weeks during the Intel Developer Forum and Cebit 2006.

Technorati Tags: aopen, minipc, intel, dothan, yonah, mac

Built in Camera for PSP

From pspworld.com

The next version of Sony's PSP will sport an integrated digital video camera that will allow users to stream live video to the PlayStation 3, according to an anonymous source. The feature, which will utilize the PSP's Wi-Fi support, will be marketed as the new way to chat with friends while on the go.
According to the tipster, the "PSP 2" will also gain the recently rumored NAND flash storage, though the first generation of the new model will only be available with 4GB instead of the 8GB currently speculated. Sony will also trim approximately a quarter of inch from the device, and offer it in three color choices — black, white and silver.

The source claims that the tiny camera will be an off-the-shelf stock unit that is currently being used in several Sony Ericsson mobile phones, and will also allow users to take still photos, in addition to video. Its placement will be directly below the PSP's screen, where the "PSP" logo can currently be found.

The new PSP's video streaming capabilities will be considered a must-have addition for Sony's upcoming PS3 console. While details are obviously scant at this point, the source say the streaming will be made possible through the upcoming HUB PlayStation service, which will supposedly launch alongside the PS3 and compete directly with Microsoft's Xbox Live service.

PSP World has not been able to confirm the existence of a new PSP or any of the alleged new features claimed by the tipster, so the above should be taken with a grain of salt. However, such a revamp would seem to fit in with Sony's vision for the product.

Technorati Tags: sony, psp, ps3, camera

Mini PC from Shuttle

From Reghardware

Shuttle has taken the wraps off its upcoming next-generation small form-factor PC which crams an Intel 65nm dual-core processor, memory, hard drive, optical storage and other goodies into a case that's just 5.4cm high and has a footprint the size of an A4 page.
The XPC X100 is pitched at a new era of home entertainment computers based on Windows XP Media Center Edition. A typical spec, said Shuttle, is a 1.83GHz Core Duo T2400 processor; 512MB of dual-channel DDR 2 SDRAM; ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics on an MXM module so it's upgradeable; 250GB Serial ATA II hard drive; HD Audio; Gigabit Ethernet; 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi; four-in-one memory card reader; one front- and three rear-mounted USB 2.0 ports; DVI, TV-out and S/P DIF ports; and a six-pin Firewire connector.

The box contains a 120W fanless power supply unit.

Shuttle stressed the spec is a preliminary one. The X100 is expected to be a keystone of the company's presence at the CeBIT show next month.
As yet, there's no word on pricing.

Technorati Tags: mini pc, shuttle, pc, next-gen, dual-core

Are you in danger of Text Message Injury?

From slashphone.com

Recent survey from Virgin Mobile has revealed that mobile phones are now the cause of a reported 3.8 million* cases of repetitive strain injuries per year.
With over 93.5million text messages sent every day in the UK, text messaging has become an every day method of communication for mobile phone users. The Taiwanese vendor's Green PC concept computer, shown to Reg Hardware this week, is just that: a shelf. And some clever wireless connectivity and non-contact inductive power source.

Asus' design breaks the computer down into a series of interchangeable modules. It imagines the machine's hard drives, optical units, memory, processor, graphics engine, network interface, Wireless USB adaptor and so on, shipping as a mix of square full-size boxes and half-size units. To build a Green PC, you just stack as many of these as you need on the shelf-like base unit.

The idea is that all the modules communicate wirelessly to discover what capabilities each can offer, and then start exchanging data. In sticking with its commitment to huge storage capacities in tiny packages, the company is now releasing the Stik&Stor solution for mobile phones, giving your everyday handset up to 8GB of additional space.

The press release cites the increased number of applications for cellular phones these days, with everything from MP3s and PDA functionality to portable video and mobile TV, coupled with the lack of significant on-board memory. The Stik&Stor solution addresses this issue by upping a phone’s capacity with a simple miniature external storage cell. It even comes with Migo syncing software to keep things organized and optimized. What’s more, you can bypass your phone’s operating system and access its internal storage directly.

Available starting this month, the 1GB and 2GB flash versions of Stik&Stor are $79 and $99, respectively, whereas the 4GB and 8GB micro drive versions are $149 and $199, respectively.

Stik & Stor Memory Upgades are compatible with all phones using a MicroSD or T-Flash connection, including (partial listing):

Motorola V635 Motorola A1000 Motorola E1000
Motorola E398 Motorola V1000 Motorola A840
Motorola A780 Motorola V850 Motorola V710
Motorola V975 Motorola V980 Motorola ROKR
Samsung D600 Samsung Z500

Technorati Tags: mobile,
cellphone,
storage,
motorola,
samsung

$599 notebook from lenovo

From Yahoo

BOSTON (Reuters) - Lenovo Group Ltd. (0992.HK), the world's No. 3 PC maker, will soon start selling low-priced computers targeted at small U.S. businesses, taking the Lenovo brand outside China for the first time, said an analyst familiar with the matter.
Adblock

Lenovo, which last year bought IBM's ailing PC business, plans to introduce a line of notebooks and desktops using processors from both Intel Corp. (Nasdaq:INTC - news) and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.(NYSE:AMD - news), said Roger Kay, president of market researcher Endpoint Technologies Associates.

The new 3000 Series notebooks will be priced starting at $599, with low-end desktops going for $349, said Kay.

Company officials briefed him on their plans, which they plan to unveil at a news conference on Thursday. Save any page on your computer as a single file for easy viewing or e-mailing.
* Avoid the clutter of files created when you normally save a complete page.
* Never lose a page's images or other components – they are all safe inside.

2. Send documents as Unipages to ensure your recipient views them just as you do.
* It's an easy alternative to creating a PDF file in many cases.
* All that's needed is a web browser to view a Unipage. There's no need to install special software to view Unipages (as is the case with PDF).
* Include complex, dynamic content that display accurately on any platform. That makes it an ideal way to send documents containing advanced formatting (CSS) Flash animations, Javascript functionality, or practically anything else a page can have.
* There is no need to buy expensive software to create your portable documents: simply use the Unipage Unifier program to convert any page, on your computer or on the web into a Unipage. If your document is not an HTML file, simply use your program's 'Save as Web Page' or similar feature and then convert the resulting page. from any application that can export HTML and then encode the result into a Unipage. Breaking away from the tired and irrelevant practice of pixel counting, the FinePix F30 Zoom is the world’s first digital compact camera to deliver ISO 3200 sensitivity at full resolution. Fujifilm has identified sensitivity as one of the major photographic benchmarks for the digital age, and this camera makes it possible to capture images of unrivalled quality, even in very dark conditions.

Building on the success of the award-winning FinePix F10 Zoom, the FinePix F30 Zoom pulls away from the pack with a sensitivity setting that is eight times as effective in low light as a conventional compact with ISO 400. The product of many years of accumulated expertise in sensor technology, this is the closest that any digital compact camera has come to approximating the remarkable sensitivity of the human eye. In practical terms, it is a breakthrough in delivering crisp images, even at night-time, or with fast-moving subjects.

Beneath its sleek exterior, the FinePix F30 Zoom boasts powerful technology that puts simple ‘style’ compacts to shame, with newly developed sixth generation Super CCD and Fujifilm’s groundbreaking Real Photo Processor II. Users are able to produce sharp images with minimal noise, no subject blurring and atmospheric lighting in dark conditions. While traditional film is no longer top of the agenda for some photographers, it is good to see that Fujifilm is maintaining the same forward-thinking attitude to its digital photographic quality.

The FinePix F30 Zoom showcases a new ‘intelligent flash’ system which uses the camera’s exceptional sensitivity to combine natural foreground illumination with balanced exposure in the background. Avoiding both the messy background blur of ‘slow-sync’ flash, and the stark contrast of conventional flash, this will bring your after-hours photography to life.

Thanks to its 500-shot battery life, the FinePix F30 is an indispensable compact for when photographers are out and about, with enough power to make sure you never miss out on capturing the action. The camera also uses xD-Picture Cards ™ which provide large storage capacity, fast write speeds and lower power consumption, further enhancing speed and efficiency for users.

The camera’s 2.5-inch LCD screen is coated with Fujifilm’s proprietary CV film, minimizing glare and reflections for enhanced ease of viewing. In addition, the FinePix F30 Zoom has 15 new scene positions from underwater, beach and snow, to sunset, party and fireworks. These make it easier than ever for users to experiment with photography in a range of lighting conditions.

Upgrade your Sony TV

if your TV won't turning off or won't turning on after 1200 hours operation, it's time to upgrade it's firmware.

Models affected are:

Bravia
KDL-V26XBR1
KDL-V32XBR1
KDL-V40XBR1

Grand Wega
KDF-E42A10
KDF-E50A10

Source : http://www.updatemytv.com/

So check your tv model.

New MacBook Pro

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/

Powered by a dual-core Intel engine. LetsGoDigital has a preview of the camera and they like what they see, especially the Live View mode which comes in two flavors: normal Live View and Macro Live View, the latter of which allows full manual focus control, 100% field of view, and the ability to enlarge sections of the displayed image by 10x. The 2.5-inch LCD also tilts up and down to allow better angels while shooting, so all that's left to find out now is how those 7.5 megapixel images turn out, but otherwise it looks like we have quite the feature-rich DSLR among us, with perks for both the pro and casual user.

From Engadget

SonyEricsson W950i

<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; This, for the DVD manufacturers, means they can start HD-DVD-R mass production at full speed, right away, with not much additional cost. A replacement stamper is needed of course and the old dye must be replaced with blue-light sensitive, resin dye. The new dye was developed in a joint project of Hayashibara Biochemical Laboratories, Mitsubishi Kagaku Media/Verbatim and Toshiba Corporation.

But at the same time, Blu-ray competitor has its own advantages, like superior storing capacity. Toshiba claims it works at this aspect also, but moving from single-layer discs that are written at 1x speed, to dual-layer 30GB discs could take several years, its spokespersons said. Toshiba promised to introduce 20GB HD-DVD-RW discs by this time next year.

So far, the Blu-ray Disc Association and the HD DVD Promotion Group have refused to compromise to a unified hybrid format for the future DVD.

Lets wait who will win this competition and the price is settled.

Safer Surfing with Firefox

"But we can say that users will have a safer experience [surfing] with Firefox."

Read it at http://news.yahoo.com/s/cmp/20060210/tc_cmp/179102616

More than that, it can block unwanted images & ads on webpages like this.

So click here to get your Firefox.

Can your PC handle Vista ?

Roughly half of today's PCs won't be able to take advantage of the "Aero Glass" compositor found within Microsoft's upcoming Vista software, due at the end of this year.
Wow, that's a lot of PC.
